The resident doctors have been on strike for over seven months on issues relating to unpaid salaries and taxation, bringing activities at the hospital to a standstill.
At a press briefing in Osogbo the state capital, the President of the association, said there was no existing concrete agreement towards addressing the impasse between government and the doctors.
He affirmed that contrary to the news being circulated, the resident doctors were sustaining the strike, as it appeared the government was not ready for a deliberation to end the disagreement.
Channels Television’s health correspondent said there were empty bed spaces in all the wards, as medical activities had been on hold since September 28, 2015 when the doctors commenced the industrial action.
However, attempts were made to get the reaction of the Osun State government, but the Director of the Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Semiu Okanlawon, said he was not prepared to speak on the issues between government and the resident doctors.
According to him, political ambition must never be pursued through violence, fear or criminal acts.
