Adams Oshiomhole, Aminu Masari, Niger Delta AvengersEdo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, and his Katsina State counterpart, Governor Aminu Masari, have condemned the recent blowing up of oil pipelines by militants in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.

Speaking with State House correspondents shortly after a meeting he had with President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential Villa, Governor Oshiomhole noted that what the President deserved was the support of all Nigerians.

He said what was happening in the southern region would make the area unattractive for investment and called on the people of the Niger Delta to be patient with the Buhari-led administration that had so far shown determination to provide jobs for the unemployed.

The Edo State Governor explained that the cash crunch, which has made it difficult for state governments to pay workers’ salaries was brought about by what he called “the misrule of the past”.

He said he and five of his colleagues had earlier met with the President to discuss the huge challenges being faced by many of the states.

Oshiomhole lamented that the unpaid salaries had created a vicious circle with landlords not getting their rents and market women unable to sell, leading to a depressed economy.

masari-katsinaOn his part, Governor Masari while speaking to Channels Television in Abuja condemned the recent attacks on the nation’s oil and gas facilities by the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers.

He said the group have no justification for their actions which he said were threatening Nigeria’s unity and should be condemned by all Nigerians.

This comes after the Niger Delta Avengers allegedly blew up another oil and gas facility belonging to Chevron in the southern region.
