Elections: DSS Warns Politicians, Youths To Shun Violence

DSS, ABSU, cultistsThe Department of State Security Services (DSS), Abia State command has apprehended four suspected cultists for beheading two students of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu.

The suspects, whose age bracket is between 21 and 25 years, are allegedly members of Burkina Faso cult group.

They are Chukwuemeka Awom, Chikezie Macdonald, Chidozie Obi and Chigozie Francis Eberendu.

Asides being accused of beheading two students and posting pictures of the beheaded bodies on the social media, they are also suspects in the shooting of one, supposedly from a rival cult group.

The incident took place in March 2016 at one of the hostels in Abia State University, Uturu.

It took the combined effort of security operatives in the state to fish out the suspects.

The suspects claimed that the crime was committed “under the influence” but the Governor who expressed disappointment by their act, stated that they would not be given the freedom to mingle with the society anymore.

According to Governor Ikpeazu, the crime and the suspects’ decision to post pictures of the beheaded bodies on the social media, showed the level of moral decadence in the society.

He disclosed that the young men would face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

The Governor reaffirmed that the zero tolerance to any form of criminality was still in course in the state and urged the security agencies to ensure that no criminal is allowed to walk freely.
