Edo_House_of_Assembly-police-at-complexSixteen suspected criminals have been paraded at the State CID, Awka, and at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) premises, Awkuzu, for sundry crimes in Anambra State.

Addressing journalists during the parade, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ali Okechukwu, said that some of the suspects were suspected members of the notorious gang presently terrorizing Nanka community and its environs in Orumba North Local Government Area, while the others are involved in murder and cultism cases.

Among those paraded is Boniface Ikechukwu, also known as Idemili, a suspected notorious armed robber who has been on the Police wanted list for years with six other suspects.

The case of Boniface was in connection with the murder of one Adimora Chukwudelue Emmanuel who he allegedly lured to Atani in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state with his gang, where they dispossessed him of his car and thereafter beat him to death.

Mr Okechukwu said that further efforts were still being made to arrest other members of his gang who were still at large while Boniface would be arraigned soon in court.

The Police also paraded the notorious gang of youths at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Awkuzu, for several cases of kidnapping, rape, armed robbery and assassination at Nanka community.

Their continued criminal activities prompted the Anambra State Police Command to re-mobilize and raid the community.

The Police Public Relations Officer appealed to parents to always monitor the activities of their wards and urged the public to continue to volunteer credible information to the Police to ensure that the state continues to be the safest in the country.

The Police rounded off the exercise with the parade of one Ifedilichukwu Nwankwo who with his gang killed two young men at Tarzan junction at Nkpor and several attempts by the Police to arrest them proved futile since 2014.

Mr Okechukwu revealed that on one occasion, a team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ajalli Police Division was ambushed by the gang. The allegedly stripped the DPO naked and chopped off one of his ears.
