The Director General (DG) of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Garba Abari has paid a courtesy visit aimed at “peace, reconciliation and rebuilding” of the Northeast states in the country.
During the visit, Dr Abari met with government officials as well as traditional rulers with the aim of mobilising the people towards reconciliation and rebuilding the north east region ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency.
In a courtesy call on the Yobe state Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, Director General said the need for the enlightenment campaign was necessary for people of the zone to imbibe the spirit of rebuilding as a way of complementing the present administration.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe oneness despite the situation of the country.
Dr Garba Abari called on the state government and traditional rulers to partner with the present administration towards meeting the desired peace.
The Yobe state Governor, represented by his deputy, Abubakar Aliyu appreciated the initiative saying it would go a long way in mobilising the citizenry towards the most wanted peace.
The governor said some of the displaced persons have returned home in preparation to resume their normal life.
He stated that the insurgency has strained relationships between various segments of the society and the sensitisation will make them forget the ugly past.
Governor Gaidam assured NOA that his administration will partner with them in the implementation strategies that will bring about the promotion of peace, unity, development of the state, the region and the country as a whole.
