Cross River,The Cross River State Governor, Mr Ben Ayade, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of Certificates of Traditional Rulers and Village heads of all waring communities across the State.

According to the governor, this is part of measures to putting an end to the incessant communal Clashes in some communities of the State.

Governor Ayade, who gave the directive in Calabar, the state capital, maintained that the traditional leaders have done little or nothing to cushion the crises which has over the years claimed many lives and property.

The Ayade-led administration, mindful of the negative effect of the crises to slowing down development, blamed the traditional institution within such communities to have allowed the crises degenerate this far.

Communal clashes have in the past years been a reoccurring decimal in communities, whose major source of livelihood is farming.

The reason for the clashes which occurs in every rainy season is as a result of a portion of land for farming.

Service Commanders undertook a show of force operation to some of the affected communities to have an undershot assessment of the present situation.

They also took out time to check on their men who were deployed to the areas to quell the communal clash to encourage and commend them for their work.

They visited Communities in Yakurr and Obubura Local Government Areas of the State.

With this unexpected action by the governor, it is hoped that, adequate peace will fully return to warring communities and the issue of communal clashes will be a thing of the past.
