The fracas that broke out in front of the palace of the monarch, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul Rasheed Akanbi.

An eyewitness said the crisis started when ‎protesters besieged the palace of the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Akanbi, who was planning to hand over a suspected kidnapper caught that same morning in the town to the police.

The people of the town‎ had gathered there to prevent the monarch from handing the suspected kidnapper to the police, owing to their lack of confidence that justice would be done.

According to the eyewitness, the police while trying to disperse the protesters shot sporadically from the palace premises allegedly killing one and leaving two others injured.

The unidentified victims were taken to a hospital, where one of them was reported to have died.

Security agencies have made efforts to restore peace but the people are still standing their ground.

The Oluwo of Iwo is yet to speak on the matter.
