The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Caretaker Committee, Mr Ahmed Makarfi, has set up an 18-man reconciliation committee to resolve internal wranglings in the faction of the party.

At a press conference in Owerri on Thursday, the Makarfi-led faction of the party stated that the committee would be headed by former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the state, Professor Jude Njoku.

Meanwhile, the Ali-Modu Sheriff led faction which has Mr Nnamdi Anyaehi as the state chairman insisted that they were the legally constituted working committee members of the PDP in the state.

The Publicity Secretary, Mr Eyinnaya Onuegbu, told Channels Television that the party would not accept any group trying to use the party for as a tool for personal campaign.

He said his faction had not been informed of any peace or reconciliation talks since none of their members have been listed in the committee.

Mr Onuegbu, however, expressed hopes that in due course the other faction would have a change of heart and come back to join the PDP mainstream in the state, which he said was the Alimodu Sheriff-led PDP.
