The Nigeria Police Force will deploy 23,000 officers in Edo State, as security measure in the forthcoming Governorship election in the state, an official of the force has said.
A Deputy Inspector-General of Police Operations, Mr Joshak Habila, told reporters on Thursday that the deployment would be part of security efforts to ensure a peaceful conduct of the September 10 election.
He said that 1,152 patrol vehicles would also be deployed to ensure that there would be no security breach while electorates vote.
Mr Habila gave the figures while addressing officers of the Edo State Police Command at the Force Headquarters in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.
