Yahaya Bello, Kogi StateKogi State Governor, Mr Yahaya Bello, has urged political office holders in the state to uphold the values of integrity and patriotism in the discharge of their duties.

Governor Bello also asked them to be guided by certain principles of the present administration which has zero tolerance for corruption.

He gave the charge on Tuesday when he declared open, a 3-day retreat for public office holders in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital in north-central Nigeria.

The Governor stressed the importance of the event, saying that the public look forward to getting the much needed dividend of democracy from the government.

He called on his political appointees to eschew all forms of sentiment and asked them to work selflessly for the good governance of Kogi State.

The theme of the retreat is “Innovative Strategies for the Development of Kogi State” and it is organised by the Savanna Centre for Diplomacy Democracy and Development in partnership with the Kogi State government.

The event is aimed at educating political office holders on the structure, procedures and practices that guide their various offices for the performance of their responsibilities.

The resource person for the programme, Professor Sam Egwu, tasked political office holders on diligence in discharging their duties and urged the Governor to live a good legacy.
