PDP, INEC, Police, DSS, CourtMembers of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State have suspended the State Chairman of the party, Mr Sam Uhotu.

The suspension is the climax of the crisis within the political party in the state.

The suspension came after a vote of no confidence was said to have been passed on the chairman at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja, the capital of the state.

It was contained in a letter addressed to Mr Uhotu signed by 30 of the SEC members.

Members of the SEC had a closed door meeting which lasted for over an hour and after the meeting, they held a press conference and gave reasons for the suspension.

They said Mr Uhotu had violated the provision of Chapter 10 Section (A1, B, C, D and H) of the party’s constitution.

The SEC members further stated that the embattled chairman had deliberately refused to call meetings of SEC, since he assumed office and claimed that “he hardly comes to the office in Lokoja, but prefers to stay in Abuja”.

In reaction to the suspension, the embattled chairman through his spokesman, Muhammed Nazir, said he was not happy with the suspension, nothing that the chairman was not given the opportunity to respond to their claims before the suspension.

The vice chairman was empowered to act as the chairman while a committee was set up to look at some of the allegations levelled against Mr Ohutu.
