Police Restate Commitment To Tackling Cybercrime In Nigeria

The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the upsurge in cases of cybercrime in Nigeria through forensic investigation.

The technical adviser to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Tolu Ogunshakin, made the remarks on Monday at a training for officers of the force in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

He said that cybercrime has assumed a worrisome level globally and emphasised the need for scientific investigation of such crimes.

He urged Nigerians to protect their identities, stressing that Nigeria has lost over 1.2 billion Naira to criminals who engage in identity theft.
