Troops of 8 Task Force Division Nigerian Army on a fighting patrol along Monguno-Brimari road, Borno State, on Thursday intercepted a group of Boko Haram terorists suspected to be on a mission to loot logistics supplies in surrounding villages.
This is according to Acting Director Army Public Relations. Colonel Sani Usman.
“On sighting the patrol, the insurgents engaged the troops in a shootout that lasted for about 15 minutes before they were overpowered by the superior fire power of the patrol.
“In the encounter, 2 insurgents were neutralized,” he stated.
The troops recovered weapons including one Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle loaded with a magazine containing 10 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, one AK-47 rifle and three magazines from the terrorists.
Also recovered from the insurgents were two motorcycles, various drugs, wrappers and clothes.
