Fiscal Responsibility Commission To Begin Verification of FG ProjectsThe Fiscal Responsibility Commission is set to begin its physical verification exercise of federal government capital projects across the federation.

Acting chairman of the commission, Mr Victor Muruoko, speaking at a press briefing said that this exercise is aimed at finding out the challenges in the execution of projects and to fashion out ways to ensure they are completed and put to immediate use.

He also appealed to ministries and government agencies involved in the exercise to play their roles effectively or face the full wrath of the law.

He said “Most projects have been poorly executed and abandoned. A lot of them have not been completed on schedule in line with the terms of the contract.

“On record we have about 50 projects scattered in the six geo-political zones. They are all in the states, communities and local governments.

“I want to tell you that this is one core assignment the act has saddled this commission to carry out. Why? Because it’s our duty to ensure that every kobo of the government is well spent to ensure that citizens of this nation get value for the money spent by government.

“Please let us join hands and support the government. Let us secure government properties and projects. Let us stop vandalism and destruction of government properties and let us stop colluding with contractors or consultants.”
