Gov. Dickson noted that, it is difficult to talk about the greatness of a nation, without talking about the values, character and knowledge of the young people.
“The greatness of a nation is the summation of the potential of the people in it especially of its young people”, he said.
He observed that, the academic training leading to the award of degrees, which he referred to as unidimensional, was not enough but that some basic values are important in building the human personality.
He called for a multidimensional approach to training the youths of the country with proper grooming.
He said “As humans, we all work very hard to raise money to send our children to school and we all expect them to be first class graduates but all of this training is usually unidimensional.
While hosting the Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES) , the governor noted that there was a collapse in the essential Christian foundation introduced by the western civilization, saying that “Those who introduced us to Christianity are now turning to other gods”. This development, he added, is affecting Nigerians and wonders what Christians were afraid of.
“But some of us are very proud of our faith and whenever we see Christians gather to do things the body of Christ will be proud of, it is always a pleasure to be part of it”, he said.
Gov. Dickson congratulated NIFES for its vision that had lasted forty eight years as he called on the body of Christ to continue to wax stronger.
