The IGP made the appeal while addressing the officers at the state command headquarters in Akure, on his visit to see their preparations for the election.

He instructed that all the officers should stay where they are deployed to provide security‎, stressing that everyone should be united and do their best.

Mr Ibrahim informed that the security will be “concentrated on the INEC headquarters and the major collation centres in the local government areas.

“Everybody must operate within their area of designation. Stay where you are deployed to provide security. All of us are united in this job operation in a very serious and alert manner.

Furthermore, he expressed delight that they had started conducting the show of force, urging all the officers to move to town to create awareness among the residents of the State.

“I am very happy you said you will start conducting show of force, that’s what we did in Edo. All of you should move to town so that the people will know that we are united and we are serious about this issue.‎”

According to the IGP, all the citizens of Ondo state have been told not to allow their children be used to cause confusion in the state.

He stressed that no individual interest should be more than national interest, adding that there has been improvement in the performance of the police in providing security in recent elections.

He then urged the force not to relent in its efforts this time around.

“We told the citizens themselves that they should not allow others to use them to cause confusion in the state, and they should not allow others to mobilize their children to cause confusion in the State.

“No individual interest is more than national interest.

“For every election, we are improving – we should not allow ourselves to go backward, it is very important.

“So please, let’s try our best to make sure that we are going to have a peaceful and transparent election in this state come November 26,” Mr Idris urged.
