Yobe Govt. Approves 3.7bn Naira For Education, OthersThe Yobe state government has awarded contract for the supply, installation and complete over hauling of solar street lights within Damaturu metropolis.

At a ceremony marking the commencement of the projects in Damaturu the state capital, the State Commissioner of Works, Shettima Lawan said 40 % payment of mobilization fee will be made available to the contractor for a start.

He said projects earmark for rehabilitation include; the inner roads and ring roads while the supply and installation of 90 units of solar street lights will be that of the 200 bed ultra-modern hospital as well as 75 units at the state specialists’ hospital.

The contract according to him also include overhaul of one thousand units of the solar streetlight along the township roads which are in different stages of bad shapes.

“The contract are the rehabilitation of solar streetlight of the inner roads and ring roads in Damaturu at the total cost of N556, 405, 263, 00 as well as the supply and installation of 90 units of solar streetlight at 200 Bed hospital and 75 units at General Sani Abacha Specialist’s hospital in Damaturu awarded to Jinabco International Limited.

The one for overhauling of one thousand unit of the lights is along the township roads within Damaturu also to the same contractor at the cost of N108,002,631.00 ” the commissioner said.

He charged the contractor to adhere strictly to contract specifications as government will not take it lightly with any bridge of promised agreement.

He then directed the contractor to ensure that the old one to be overhauled should be safely stored within the ministry’s premises as they can be use some other times if need be.

The contractor Mister Jinjiri Abubakar while thanking the Yobe state Government for considering his company worthy of the contract assures that he will adhere strictly to contract specifications.

“God willing, the projects will be completed before the due date and we will ensure that all the agreements signed in the contract will be strictly followed” Jinjiri said.

The Yobe State Executive council had on the 3rd of November 2016 approved for the immediate rehabilitation of the street lights which are in various stages of disrepair.

The council’s decision was based on the fact that the streetlights often add beauty to Damaturu the state capital as well as assist security and surveillance of the town.
