ayo-fayoseEkiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has flagged off the rehabilitation of a federal road, linking Efon Alaaye to Ado-Ekiti.

Speaking during the exercise which took place on Thursday in Aramoko-Ekiti, he urged the federal government to stop blaming past administrations for the nation’s challenges and rather take up its responsibilities as government at the centre.

Fayose who frowned at the deplorable condition of the road, assured residents of the state of his administration’s commitment to making life easier for them.

”Over the years this road has been neglected, the federal government should wake up to their responsibility as a government at centre, the people are hungry, we have not seen the change that we voted for,” the Governor stressed.

He also called on residents to cooperate with the contractor to ensure speedy completion of the road.

The traditional ruler of the Aramoko-Ekiti community, Oba Olu Adeyemi, who commended the “good work” of the Governor, said that all complaints sent to the federal government had fallen on deaf ears.

“We have sent several letters to the federal government over the poor state of the road with no positive results,” he said.

With the recent commencement of rehabilitation work however, residents have renewed hopes that the high rate of accident on the road would reduce drastically.
