Ahead of the 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State, Governor Ayodele Fayose, has vowed to reclaim the state for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), regardless of powers that be.
Fayose made the vow on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, while addressing reporters on the aftermath of the Ondo governorship election.
The governor added that no matter the mercenaries put in place by the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government in 2018, Ekiti would remain a PDP controlled state.
”Only time will judge the decision taken by electorates in Ondo State. Anybody who thinks Ekiti State is the next state to be taken by the APC, that is a big lie.
“I am very close to my people in Ekiti State and no one can take Ekiti from me Ayo Fayose.
“If election is conducted hundred times in Ekiti, I, Ayo Fayose, will defeat them hundred times,” he claimed.
Governor Fayose further stated that he would ensure that the APC would not win any local government in the state.
“Let them bring the whole money in the TSA (Treasury Single Account) to Ekiti, they will not win any local government in Ekiti. I am one with my people.
“Governor Mimiko may have issues but that does not mean they have voted right. In the next one year, we will know if they have done the right thing.
“We are talking about change in Nigeria. Where are we now? what has changed? Rather the people are poorer and are in hungry. There is nothing to celebrate,” he told reporters.
The Ondo State governorship election may have come and gone, but the outcome of the election won by the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer, Rotimi Akeredolu, is still been criticised by top high ranking members of the opposition PDP.
With the victory of Apc in Ondo State Ekiti is now the only PDP controlled state in the southwest, but Governor Fayose said this would not deter him from reclaiming the state for PDP in 2018.
For now, many political watchers in the state are keeping their fingers crossed on what will play out in the 2018 governorship election in ekiti state.
