The Nigeria Police has declared militia leader, Terwase Akwaga, also known as Ghana wanted.

Police, Imo, Ember Months, CrimeMovement of persons and vehicles between 12:00 midnight on Friday and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday has been restricted in Rivers State to ensure a hitch-free conduct of a legislative re-run election.

The restriction was announced by the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday ahead of the December 10 election.

The force said the restriction on land and waterways was placed after due consultation with relevant interest groups.

In a statement by the spokesman for the command, Mr Omoni Nnamdi, the Rivers State Police Command also barred important personalities and Politicians from going to any voting centre with their security details.

“They are also warned to desist from moving from one place to another on the Election Day, as provided under the Electoral Act.

“Movement is strictly restricted from place of abode to voting centres and back,” the statement read.

The police said it would move together with other Security Agencies to ensure strict compliance.

The Commissioner of Police Rivers State, Mr Francis Odesanya, also appealed for the continued support and cooperation of residents, pointing out that the restriction is “intended to provide a conducive atmosphere to conduct free, fair, and violence free election that will stand the test of time”.
