Nasarawa Govt. Seeks Better Maternal, Newborn Healthcare

Nasarawa Govt. Seeks Better Maternal, Newborn Healthcare The Nasarawa state government has flagged off the second round of the 2016 maternal and newborn health week for pregnant mothers and children.

The flag-off ceremony took place at the Model Health Centre in Tudun Kauri, Lafia.

It was performed by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Jummai Agara, who represented the first lady, Hajiya Salamatu Tanko Al-makura.

Hajiya Salamatu said that the issues concerning women must be given top priority.

She promised to continue to support activities that will enhance an effective and comprehensive health sector, not only in improving the health status but to address the health needs of citizens in the state.

“We will continue to support activities that will enhance an effective health sector in the state in order to cater for the health needs of citizens,” she said.

The ceremony which was the second round witnessed a large turnout of pregnant mothers and children.
