The Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Ekiti State Command, has apprehended a suspect, Abdullahi Alatise, for allegedly vandalising and stealing electricity armour cables in the state.
Vigilante commander in the state, Swebat Aliu, told Adaba FM that the suspect was apprehended at Oke-Ila area of the state capital, while trying to steal the electrical materials.
She urged the general public to continue working with the vigilante group by giving them useful information that can help the security out-fit in order to effectively carry out its mandate on community police.
The Vigilante boss further explained that the suspect would soon be handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for further action and possible prosecution.
“This has been happening for a long time in this vicinity- we will continue to assist the police and other security agencies to ensure ekiti is crime free”.
The Suspect however denied the allegation while claiming to be a scavenger who picks used materials for sales.
