Osun PDP Goes Spiritual For 2018 Governorship Election The Osun State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday held an inter-religious prayer session at their party secretariat along Ikirun Road, Osogbo ahead of the 2018 governorship election in the state.

Party loyalists in their thousands, led by the Chairman, Dr Soji Adagunodo and stalwarts of the party, converged on the secretariat to pray for the enthronement of a PDP-led government in the state come 2018.

Adagunodo assured the people of Osun state that his party would present a credible candidate but charged members to join the moving train to work assiduously and ensure victory for PDP come 2018.

According to him, the people of Osun State are fed up with the All Progressives Congress-led administration in the state.

“No human being can get anything except it is given by God and you know the position of authority is ordained by God and not man made.

“It’s only God that ordains people; starting from kings to men in authority. So if you believe in God what you have to first do is to go to God and ask him to direct us to his own person ‎that will work well either at the state or national level for the benefit of the people and that is why we have to start by employing the power of prayer and not just any kind of prayer.Osun PDP Goes Spiritual For 2018 Governorship Election

“This is not just a political gathering, we are trying to seek the face of God for this state, seek the face of God for Nigeria, things are not going the way it should go, things are not well with Nigeria and we pray to God that He should take over and change things for the better for Nigerians for the positive, ‎” he said.

Credible Candidate

Speaking on the plan of the party to secure victory over the ruling All Progressives Party ‎in the state, Dr Adagunodo said: “We are going to call a stakeholders’ meeting and institute committees and directorates that will work with the working committee of the party to start work towards the journey of winning election in 2018.

“In the next one week we are calling the meeting. We intend to roll out our plans and activities and we will let you all know how we will pick our gubernatorial candidate and what we are going to do to ensure that the party is popular in the state.

“The last stakeholders meeting, I threw open the race that whoever is interested should apply, some have applied, and maybe we are still expecting more but I can assure you that we are going to pick a gubernatorial candidate that will represent PDP without rancor

“We want to try as much as possible to ensure that by the time we are picking, consensus of opinion will be reached to pick one person but we will do a transparent primary election that will ensure a credible candidate is picked to represent the PDP.

Massive Mobilisation

“This is just the beginning; you can see the crowd gathered here, there will be massive mobilisation.

They will see what we call dragging of masses to change government, we are going to do it, we have the plan and the blueprint and we are going to roll it out and I can assure you that in the next six months we will have been seen as the party in waiting for government by the grace of God.”

Chieftains of the party at the event include Hon Oluwole Oke, member, House of Representatives, former Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Hon Adejare Bello, Hon. Hon. Kayode Oduoye, , Akogun Lere Oyewumi, Senator Felix Ogunwale, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, Ambassador Gunju Adesakin among others.
