Enugu State, Nyaba Bridge, Patrick IkpenwaThe Enugu State government has promised to complete the construction of Nyaba Bridge by the end of February.

The construction of the bridge, which is located in Amagunze Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state, is a project that started in February 2016.

Enugu State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Patrick Ikpenwa, said the project when completed would be a major link between Enugu east and west.

Mr Ikpenwa added that it would ease traffic and most importantly, better the lives of the people who have been subjected to the use of wooden bridge to access neighbouring communities and carry their farm produce to the market for several years.

He noted that as part of the state government’s commitment to ensuring good governance and rural development, it involves stakeholders of every community to come up with projects that are more vital to them.

The commissioner stressed further that the host community would also benefit from the phase two of the state government project.

He, however, called on the people to partake in the sensitisation programme on maintenance of infrastructure to ensure the bridge lives out its lifespan.

Ikpenwa also asked them to report any activity that is capable of sabotaging the government’s effort.
