Campaigners of the Bring Back Our Girls group climaxed their week-long activities to commemorate the third year anniversary of the Chibok girls’ abduction with an inaugural lecture.

The event, themed: ‘Where Goes Our Girl-Child, Our Nation Goes’, brought together dignitaries such as the Emir of Kano, Mohammadu Sanusi (II), who has been quite vocal on issues bedeviling Nigeria’s development.

Delivering a speech on his behalf, was his daughter, Shahida Sanusi, who called for more to be done for the girl child.

She noted that also of equal importance, is the kind of society that the girls will be brought back to, after being rescued.

“How much better is the normal environment which we all take for granted, than the Boko Haram camps. These questions ultimately make us to face the reality that the kind of society we have created, infact, is the root cause of emergence of groups like Boko Haram and occurrences like the Chibok tragedy.

She therefore urged the Federal Government to work extra hard to secure the release of the other 195 girls as well as create a safe and habitable environment by eliminating the criminal elements.

It was an emotional event with parents pouring out their hearts as they spoke of their anguish, waiting for their daughters return home.
