The Secretary of Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Dr. Mrs Arinola Akinsete has said that various challenges facing the public secondary schools in Ondo state would be taken care of as soon as possible by the state government.

She hinted this while addressing some Education Managers and Teachers during an inspection tour to the public secondary schools where the West African School Certificate Examinations (WAEC) are ongoing.

In a statement issued to newsmen by the Head of Press and Public Relations Unit of the Commission, Mr Goodluck Akinyomi, the Commission’s Secretary stated that one of the priorities of Governor Akeredolu’s led administration in the State is to create enabling environment for standard and uninterrupted teaching and learning process in the public secondary schools.

Akinsete who further stressed that the state government would not cease in committing a handsome amount for the development of the Secondary Education, reiterated the need for regular inspections and monitoring of schools so as to regularly and adequately keep teachers on their toes to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

She expressed her satisfaction over the good conducts, comportment and arrangement of the students in all the examination centres visited.

The Secretary advised school Principals to always consult with relevant stakeholders for them to assist in developing the schools as government could not do it all alone.

The Principal, Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Akure, Mrs Taye Bola, assured the government of better service delivery, especially now that teachers’ salaries are regular.

Schools visited during the inspection exercise include: Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Akure, Uso Grammar School, Uso, Imade College, Owo, St. Catherine Girls High School, Owo, Victory College, Ikare- Akoko, Mount. Carmel Secondary School, Ikare – Akoko among others.
