The family of Senator Isiaka Adeleke has shunned the Coroner inquest into his death, backing its resolve not to be involved in the process with action.

Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, had on May 3 ordered the inquest amid controversy over the Senator’s sudden death.

The Coroner’s inquest headed by Magistrate Olusegu Ayilara had on Tuesday invited two of the late Senator’s sibblings – his brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke and sister, Mrs Dupe Adeleke-Sanni.

It also invited the State Commissioner of Police, the Chief Medical Directors of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital and Biket Hospital, as well as the Executive Secretary of Ede South Local Government.

While the Adeleke family shunned the inquest, others invited showed up and the inquest began sitting on Wednesday.

Those present at the sitting, based on the summons, included the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye; Executive Director of Biket Hospital, Dr. Adebisi Adenle, Executive Secretary, Ede South Local Government, Mr. Johnson Ojo.

The Coroner, however, said it could not take evidence as a result of logistic challenges and adjourned till May 15.

Adeleke the first civilian governor of Osun State, died at the age of 62 on April 23.

His death led to outrage among his supporters many of who protested in the days following his death and at his burial, while members of his family said they suspected foul play.
