The Delta State Police command has confirmed the murder of the Ughelli Area Commander, ACP, Usman Ndanbaba.

He said that the command was investigating the attack and would ensure that the culprits were brought to book.

An eyewitness account says the officer was trailed by his attackers at the roundabout opposite the palace of Ovie of Ughelli on Isoko Road. He was allegedly shot twice at close range, following which he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he died.

Meanwhile, one police officer from Abraka Police Division was also reportedly killed and three others injured during a routine patrol along the railway line in Abraka.

It was gathered that the officers were taken unaware and as such before they could recuperate to fend off the attack, the damage had already been done, as one of the officers died on the spot, while others escaped the siege with bullet wounds and are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident with assurances that the police is still on the trail of those who committed the dastardly act.
