[UPDATED] Three-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos

A three-storey building under construction has collapsed in the Ilasa area of Lagos.

The collapsed building fell on the adjoining buildings to it, trapping many people.

The building, which is located at 2/4, Richard Abimbola, Off Limca Road, Ire Adri Estate, collapsed around 2pm.

Around 5pm, the National Emergency Management Agency said 16 people had been rescued from the rubble of the building.

About two hours earlier an eyewitness had put the number of those rescued at nine with the figure rising not long after.

Rescue operations are ongoing at the building, which was cordoned off by emergency workers.

It is unclear how many people are still trapped in the building.

The injured were said to have been taken to the Ilasa General Hospital.

Rescue operations are still ongoing.
