UEFA Fines Manchester United, Two Players

Manchester United’s players and coaching staff observed a moment of silence on Tuesday in the wake of the suicide bomb attack which killed at least 22 people in the city.

The victims, including some children, were killed when a suicide bomber struck as thousands of fans streamed out of a concert by U.S. singer Ariana Grande in the northern English city on Monday night.

United held the silence at their Carrington training ground as the side prepared to face Ajax Amsterdam in the final of the Europa League, to be played in Stockholm on Wednesday.

Manchester United’s Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward also offered his condolences to the victims of the Manchester bomb attack on Tuesday).

Woodward, speaking in Stockholm ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final against Ajax, said the news had left the club feeling “numb”.

UEFA have confirmed that a minute’s silence will be observed before the match and that the opening ceremony would be scaled back in the wake of the attack.
