The Police have arrested a 23-year-old in connection with the bomb attack on the Manchester Arena, which killed 22 people.

According to the Greater Manchester Police, the man was arrested in South Manchester.

The attack, which also left 59 people injured, occurred as thousands of fans streamed out of a concert by U.S. singer Ariana Grande in Manchester late on Monday.

Few hours after the attack, the Greater Manchester Police said the incident was being treated as a terrorist act.

“We believe, at this stage, the attack last night was conducted by one man,” Manchester Chief Constable Ian Hopkins told reporters. “The priority is to establish whether he was acting alone or as part of a network.”

UK Prime Minister Theresa May called an emergency meeting with intelligence chiefs after the attack, while United States President Donald Trump described it as the work of “evil losers”.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on her part, said the attack “will only strengthen our resolve to…work together with our British friends against those who plan and carry out such inhumane deeds.”

The attack is the deadliest militant assault in Britain since four British Muslims killed 52 people in suicide bombings on London’s transport system in July 2005.
