Some Libya returnees from Edo State have taken to the streets to appeal to the state government for assistance.

Giving reason for the march to the Edo State Government House, one Mr Lucky Igue said they got information that the government had plans for them and had therefore called to see them.

“We heard an information that the governor wants to see us – That he is ready for the deportees from Libya and that’s why we are here. I believe as we are here, he is aware that we are waiting for him to come see us and let us know what he has for us.”

The Edo State Government in reaction to this, appealed to residents of the state to employ the approved channels of engagement if they require government attention on matters, rather than taking to the streets to protest.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, John Mayaki who addressed the returnees said “Protesting is not the first option. If you want anything from government, there are laid down procedures and rules of engagement with which you can achieve best results other than protests.”

He, therefore, encouraged the group to key into the ongoing Edo Jobs initiative.
