The family of a Scottish teenager have confirmed she was one of the 22 people killed in the suicide bombing in Manchester on Monday.

Fourteen-year-old Eilidh MacLeod, from the Scottish Island community of Barra, had been missing since the attack at the concert of U.S. singer, Ariana Grande at the Manchester Arena.

She had travelled to see the concert together with friend, Laura McIntyre, 15, also from Barra, who is reported to be in a serious condition in hospital.

MacLeod’s parents issued a statement on Thursday confirming her death, local media reported.

Following Monday’s attack, desperate parents and friends posted heart-wrenching messages and pictures on social media in the search for their loved ones who had been at the concert.

“Please…please retweet. Looking for my daughter and her friend,” Michael MacIntyre wrote on Twitter, alongside an image of his daughter Laura and Eilidh.
