The Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA) has sacked 124 of its officers (marshals) for committing various professional misconducts.

A statement issued by the General Manager of the agency, Abdulkadir Ahmed, disclosed that some of the marshals were found wanting for extortion, while others absconded from their duty posts.

He explained that the termination of the appointments followed all the laid down procedures as prescribed in the Terms and Condition of Service (TACOS) of the agency.

According to him, the move is part of the agency’s effort to improve service delivery.

While assuring the public of the agency’s commitment of ensuring safety on roads, the General Manager warned residents not to give any form of gratification or monetary payment to marshals of the agency.

The statement gave all the sacked marshals two weeks within which to return all KASTELEA property in their procession, with the warning that failure to do so would attract severe sanctions from the agency.
