ECA, World Bank Say Innovation Key To Addressing Africa’s Job Challenge

Professor Adeniyi Osuntogun of the resource Integrated Development Foundation has identified excessive paper-work, border crossings and lack of harmonisation of tariffs among others to be some of the challenges hindering effective trade facilitation between Nigeria and other countries.

He said the practice of trade facilitation remains evolving around the world with attendant impact on intra-Africa trade.

Professor Osuntogun said this on Thursday while explaining how to boost continental trade for regional integration.

The expert noted that several African countries are yet to provide enough support to enhance trade facilitation processes across borders.

There have been several calls for trade facilitation between African countries.

At the recently concluded G7 summit, Nigeria’s Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, assured the world leaders of Africa’s increasing collaborations as never seen before in security, trade, counter-terrorism and democracy.

He also held discussions with them on possible partnership in the areas of technology, agriculture and sustainable energy.
