Maitama Sule’s Body Arrives In Nigeria

The body of late elder statesman and politician, Maitama Sule has arrived Nigeria.

The Kano State Government had announced that he would be buried by 4:00 pm on Tuesday at the Emir’s palace and also declared the day a public holiday in honour of him.

Dr Sule died in a hospital in Cairo, Egypt’s capital while receiving treatment for an illness.

Tributes have continued to pour in following the announcement of his death with some of Nigeria’s top government officials expressing shock over the news.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki described him as a true nationalist and therefore used the opportunity to call on citizens to embrace dialogue and resolve inter-ethnic differences as a way of honouring the legacy of the late politician.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and former President, Goodluck Jonathan also mourned the death of elder statesman.

Osinbajo said the one-time Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN would best remembered on the global scene as one of the nation’s foremost envoys whose clarity of voice and vision contributed significantly to the high esteem and respect the country earned at the United Nations.
