Southeast and South South governors have agreed to pursue interregional cooperation for the economic benefits of both regions.

The leaders have also agreed to work together politically and realign as a people that share common heritage, culture and affinity.

They reached the agreement after a closed door meeting in Enugu.

In attendance were the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi; his counterpart from Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Others were the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, and the Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade.

Also at the meeting was the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and the President of the Ohanaeze Nd’igbo, John Nwodo.
