English Soccer Players Mix With Next Generation In Hong Kong

Four top English Premier League teams wowed their smallest Hong Kong fans on Tuesday ahead of the Asia League Trophy.

Dozens of local primary school footballers met their idols from Liverpool FC, Leicester City, Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace along with veteran players and coaches.

Former Liverpool and English national team player John Barnes taught the youngsters how to dribble, while new Bromwich acquisition, Jay Rodriguez, also joined in the games.

Rodriguez said “The lads are great. They’ve made me feel really welcome and to come out here is a real honor as well – to see Hong Kong and come with the team is really impressive so I’m buzzing to be here and can’t wait to get started.”

At an earlier news conference, Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare said defender Robert Huth had been ruled out for up to two months after undergoing ankle surgery.

Huth did not travel with the team to Hong Kong and is undergoing rehabilitation.
