262 Nigerians Return From Libya

Two hundred and sixty-two Nigerians have returned from Libya in North Africa, officials say.

Their return was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IMO) and the Nigerian Embassy in Libya.

The returnees – 108 males, 135 females, eight children and 11 infants – arrived aboard a Libyan Airlines aircraft which landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

They were received on Wednesday night by officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the police.

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Maihaja, said the agency in collaboration with the IOM was working to ensure that thousands of Nigerians stranded in Libya are brought back home.
