He said the meeting agreed that the military heads should be moved back to the command centre, in order to critically review issues pertaining to security in the country.

The minister added that the Federal Government would procure more surveillance devices and cameras to promptly detect distant attackers and protect the troops.

According to him, the decisions which came against the backdrop of recent frequent attacks in Maiduguri, are also geared towards tightening every loophole and ultimately halt regular ambushes on the troops.

The latest was on Tuesday when a team of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) staff and their escorts returning from oil exploration were ambushed by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.

On receipt of the information, the Nigerian Army mobilised and sent reinforcement, search and rescue party that worked and pursued the terrorists throughout the night.

The operation consequent yielded a good result as the Army Spokesman Brigadier General Sani Usman said that all the oil workers kidnapped by the insurgents had been rescued.

Unfortunately, the Army troops were unable to rescue nine of their colleagues and a civilian who were killed by the insurgents.

Brigadier General Usman, however, noted that many of the terrorists were neutralised while troops were not relenting in the pursuit, search and rescue effort.
