Lucky loser Leonardo Mayer won through to the final of the German Open after beating fellow of Argentine Federico Delbonis 6-3 7-5 in Hamburg on Saturday.
Mayer failed to qualify for the tournament but got the chance to play when Martin Klizan withdrew with an injury.
The 30-year-old proceeded to knock top seed Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas out in the first round and battled his way up to the semi-final where he came back from 5-3 down in the second set against Delbonis to win in 85 minutes.
It will be an Argentina-Germany final, and could even be a Mayer v Mayer match, as the second semi-final pits Philipp Kohlschreiber against Florian Mayer, both of Germany.
