Giving an account of the incident, the police said a female suicide bomber first attacked a joint security guard location in the general area of the community around 11:22 pm on Thursday.

The police said hours later, around 5:15 am, two more suicide bombers targeted the Molai General Hospital and tried to gain entry into the temporary settlement area for rehabilitated leprosy patients.

“They were prevented by the persistent barking and attacks from dogs in the area. In the process, they hurriedly detonated IEDs strapped to their bodies, killing themselves,” the statement said.

It further noted that police EOD teams were promptly drafted to scenes, to sanitise and render the area and its surrounding safe.
