The Governor of Benue State, Mr Samuel Ortom, has commiserated with the government and people of Anambra State over the killing of worshipers by gunmen.
Gunmen had invaded St. Phillips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state on Sunday, killing 12 and injuring many others.
Governor Ortom in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, expressed sadness over the incident as he joined other Nigerians in condemning the dastardly act.

“Human lives must be considered as sacrosanct by all, but Ozubulu incident is indeed a black day not only in Anambra State but also across the country and we must work to prevent terror in any form.
“Places of worship are not targets of attacks even in war situations. One can only wonder what might have motivated the gunman to embark on the murderous mission.”
The governor urged the church to be prayerful and remain courageous in this trying moment.
He also asked members to pray for the repose of the souls of the departed as well as speedy healing of the injured worshipers.
