Bombers, routinely deployed at the U.S Andersen Air Force Base in the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam, have been readying for action on Friday in response to North Korea’s threat to land a missile near the island.

United State President Donald Trump issued a new warning to Pyongyang on Friday, tweeting: “Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely.”

U.S. Air Force Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel, Chris Occhiuzzo, said: “We don’t train for a specific threat, we don’t train for a specific scenario, but we are training always, with our allies, with our partners.

“We feel safe here right now and that’s what this continuous bomber presence does, it assures our allies and deters our adversaries. Secretary of state honourable Tillerson just came the other day, right, and he said right now, there is no imminent threat from North Korea here.

“Well, momentarily you’re going to see two B-1s take off on a mission, obviously I can’t tell you what they’re doing or where they’re going, but we are training every day, all the time, just so we’re ready, we’re always prepared to prevail and to fight tonight”.

Tension in the region has risen since the reclusive North staged two nuclear bomb tests in 2016 and launched two intercontinental ballistic missile tests in July in defiance of world powers.
