Calm has returned to the Edo State House of Assembly after Monday’s sitting which saw the impeachment of the Justin Okonobo as speaker and Elizabeth Ativie as Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.
At the resumed sitting of the House on Tuesday morning Kabiru Adjoto assumed his seat as Speaker of the House with 16 other members in attendance.
The former Speaker, the Deputy Speaker and other members suspended were however absent from the sitting despite announcing a counter suspension on Monday.
The lawmakers are currently debating on the oil spillage in Uzanu, Igiode, Ikpeye in Etsako East Local Government Area and are appealing for the speedy intervention of government to remediate the damage done to the communities in the area.
