The former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Hussaini  Akwanga, has been kidnapped by gunmen in Nasarawa State.

The former Minister was abducted on Tuesday evening at his farm in Kurmin Tagwaye village of Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

The police spokesman, DSP John Kennedy Idrissu who confirmed the abduction of Akwanga, said that police has launched a manhunt to capture the perpetrators.

According to a family source, the incident occurred when gunmen said to be about 10 in number invaded his farm along in Kurmin Tagwaye on Wamba road,  Akwanga  Nasarawa and took him to a destination yet unknown.

The source added that the family is apprehensive about the whereabouts of their father because of his age and health condition.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa state Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Sadiq Bello, who visited the family house in Akwanga assured the family that the police is not relenting to ensure the rescue of the elder statesman.
