The Nasarawa State Police Command says it has intensified its search operation to rescue the kidnapped former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Usaini Akwanga.

Akwanga was kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday evening at his farm in Kurmin Tagwaye village of Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police the state, Abubakar Bello, told Channels Television on Wednesday that efforts are ongoing to rescue the elder statesman. and arrest his abductors.

He also assured the family of the former minister and the public that his abductors would be apprehended soon.

Meanwhile, a source said the gunmen who earlier contacted the family through his phone, demanding N50m to set him free, have requested for N5m to release him.

According to the source, about 10 gunmen invaded Akwanga’s farmland along Wamba Road in and took him to a destination yet unknown.
