The Edo Joint Account and Allocation Committee (JAAC) has declared the sum of N2.15b as the total allocation that accrued to the 18 local government councils in the state from the federation account for the month of August 2017.

The head of Owan East Local Government Administration, Mr Akeena Ade-Akhani, presented the figures after the JAAC meeting at the Government House in Benin City, the Edo State capital presided over by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The breakdown of the figures showed that the amount spent on mandatory expenditures was N1.44b, with N1. 09b of it spent on teachers’ salary, leaving a distributable sum of N705.62m shared among the 18 local councils.

Mr Ade-Akhani also announced that the sum of N212.88 was used for the payment of local government pensioners.

Furthermore, he stated that a review of the use of electronic systems for revenue collection in the state showed significant success adding that the state government was not deducting any money from the local government allocations.
