A catholic priest has been shot by gunmen in Lagos, barely one week after another priest was shot and killed in Imo State.

The priest, Daniel Nwankwo was shot during an early morning mass held at St Thomas Catholic Church in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal confirmed the incident.

The gunmen who posed as worshipers had requested to have a dialogue with the priest after the mass before shooting him.

The priest was however rushed immediately to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital where he is currently being treated.
