One of the delegates to the second National Council meeting of the Niger Delta holding in Igbokoda, Ondo State, has lost his life while four were injured.
The delegates, whose identity were not yet ascertained, were travelling on Tuesday from Akure to Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area, for the summit which Vice President Yemi Osibajo was to chair.
The accident was said to have occurred at Ode-Aye, a sleepy town along Okitipupa-Igbokoda Road.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Femi Joseph, who confirmed the accident, blamed it on high speed.
He said three vehicles were involved in the accident, adding that the vehicles were damaged beyond recognition.
Mr Joseph also informed that the corpse had been deposited at the mortuary of the State Specialist Hospital in Okitipupa, where the injured victims were also receiving treatment.
He said efforts were on by the state government and the State Police Command to rescue the injured victims.
